If you want to transfer a domain from one registrar company to another, you will need to pass through a couple of security steps. One of them is obtaining a special EPP authentication code from the current domain registrar – provided that you are the registrant, since the code is emailed to the domain owner’s email address and nobody else can see it. You’ll need to give this code to the new registrar company, otherwise they won’t be able to begin the domain name transfer process. The EPP codes are case-sensitive and may contain digits or special characters such as commas or dots, which can be easily misentered, so make sure you copy & paste the right code. As an extra safety measure, the transfer code for a domain may be reset on a regular basis. Some registrars call this code a domain password, a domain secret or an Auth key as well.
